April 13th

Well ,it looks like I took a few days off from the blog, but I am back.

On April 8th, we left Charleston and cruised to McClellanville, SC and pulled into the Leland Oil Co dock. Leland Oil Co is located just off the ICW on Jeremy Creek. We approached just prior to low tide, not recommended, in about 5 ft of water (we draw about 4 ft). The "marina" consists of one short dock and the only space available was about 35 ft long. The Next Chapter is 40 ft plus about another 4 ft for the dingy. But no worries, the dock master and another Looper who had arrived just before us moved the boat next to where we were to dock by pulling it's lines down about 10 feet to provide enough space for us to fit. Jack did a great job, as usual, parallel parking us into the spot. Such a feat drew the attention of the other 3 Looper boat cruisers and we quickly made plans for docktails while waiting for the Eclipse. Since we didn't have glasses for the eclipse, someone recommended using colanders to view the eclipse which will show the crescent of light produced by the eclipse. Picture to follow. The resulting lower air temperature brought a mass of no-see'ems that fortunately disappeared immediately after the eclipse.

The next day we set out on foot to explore McClellanville. It is a sleepy little town that looks all but forgotten, except for a "1000 year old Deerhead Oak tree that is 67 ft high, 30.6 ft around and has a limb that measures 70 ft. We did, however, discover a great little restaurant called TW Graham & Co. where we had a wonderful lunch. According to our server, there are no other stores or restaurants in town.

The Next morning we headed for Georgetown, SC in summer-like weather. The HarborWalk Marina is located right downtown with easy access to some wonderful restaurants and shops. Our friends, Joanne and Richard, whom we stayed with in Beaufort only days before, drove up the next day. That day brought pouring rain and winds up to 40 mph so we pretty much stayed put expect for some of the mundane activities like cleaning and laundry. The rain stopped long enough for the 4 of us to go out for dinner. Friday was a beautiful day so Jack and I walked 2.5 miles round trip to the Piggly Wiggly, yes that is a real name for a grocery store. Last evening we went out for Mexican food with a couple, also on the Loop from Las Vegas that we met at the Leland Oil Co. We had great food and a lot of laughs.

Today we are on our way to Wacca Wache, SC (You can't make up these names)

Having a problem sending the other pictures. Will post them as soon as I can.
