June 28th
Hi We are back! It has been a while since I posted last because we took a break from the Loop to visit grandkids and great grandkids. We arrived at Albany Yacht Club on June 10th. On Wednesday, June 12th my brother John and sister-in-law, Laura drove down from Essex, NY to spend the day with us. It was great to see them and catch up. They also drove us to a huge liquor store so we could stock up for the next leg of our trip. A definite priority. On June 13th we left the boat at Albany Yacht Club and flew to Tampa. I spent 4 days getting refurbished with hair appointment, facial, nails and seeing a hand surgeon and dermatologist. On Sunday we had brunch with my grandson Ben, his wife Serena and my great grand kids Hugo (2) and Josie (7 mos). That afternoon we visited with my nephew Derek and great nephew Michael. It was so great to see them all. Little ones change so quickly.
Tuesday we were off to Dallas to visit with Jack's oldest daughter, Kelly, and her family. She has 2 sons, Colton 5 and Everret 3 and a daughter, Mackenzie, 15 mos. They are adorable and entertaining. We went swimming and to an aquarium which was big hit. June 21st we flew to Atlanta and drove up to my house in Hiawassee and enjoyed 3 days of R&R before heading back to Albany to pick up the boat.
After provisioning on Tuesday (6/25) we headed further up the Hudson River towards the Erie Canal.
We went through 2 locks to get to Lock One Marina in Waterford, NY where we had an appointment to get a sump pump replaced. Always something on a boat.
Wednesday, June 26th we took off on the next leg of our trip the Erie Canal which will bring us to the Great Lakes. Yesterday we went through 7 locks that lifted us up a total of 210 feet above the entrance of the Canal bringing us into Schenectady. Today we went through 3 locks for a total lift of 42 feet. The Erie Canal (the Mohawk River) is beautiful. Tonight we are tied up to a wall in Amsterdam. Tomorrow we have a long ride up to Little Falls passing thru another 7 locks.
