April 15th

We arrived at the Wacca Wachee Marina, south Myrtle Beach on Saturday, April 13th. It was a beautiful cruise up the Waccamaw River where the low country seagrass gave way to the cypress trees that lined the river. The marina looked brand new. It had a very nice restaurant, clean showers and laundry. Features that I have grown to appreciate LOL. On Sunday we took a 3 mile walk through the area enjoying the lush trees and area architecture. That evening, after watching Scottie Schefller win the Masters we had dinner at the onsite restaurant and enjoyed a stunning sunset that our pictures cannot do justice to.

This morning, while enjoying warm weather and a very light breeze we headed to Bare Foot Landing in North Myrtle Beach. Once again, the scenery along the Waccamaw River was stunning.

March 4th, 2024 Well our planning, packing and provisioning are complete, We moved onto the boat last night and cruise to Sarasota this morning for our first stop on our 10 month cruise of the Great Loop.   March 5, 2024 We had another beautiful day on the water. Arrived in Venice and pulled into the Crow's Nest Marina around noon. Had lunch at the Venice Yacht Club and worked on the boat. Leaving in the morning for St Charles Yacht Club in Ft Myers which is an 8 hour/ish cruise. Will definitely be ready for a marguerita.  March 7th Well yesterday was an interesting day. We were out in the Gulf for about 4 hours with initially 2 ft waves, seemed like 4 to me, Pat, but I weathered it well.  May 2nd We arrived in Coinjock on Sunday, 4/28 after buddy boating with L'Attitude Adjustment. It is a small marina located on the intracoastal waterway on our way to Norfolk. We were soon joined by our friends on Bapardi. Coinjock is famous for their restaurant that proudly serves 32 oz ribeye steaks. So, of course, we immediately made reservations for the 6 of us. On Tuesday we headed up to Norfolk. It was a beautiful tree lined part of the intracoastal. Norfolk was quite an impressive site as we entered the port which is a base for Naval vessels. After we docked at the Waterside Marina our day turned negative. While I was engaged in the routine of connecting the boat to the water system, I slipped on the dock and in an attempt to break my fall I broke my wrist!  Although I was hoping that it was only a bad sprain, it became evident that a fracture was more likely so off we went in an Uber to the emergency department at Sentara General Hospital.   June 10 th We arrived at Donavan’s Shady Harbor Marina in New Baltimore, NY on Friday, June 7 th . Kathy and Brian Donavan own the marina and host an annual weekend that includes a “Pig Roast” on Sunday afternoon. This year, the guest of honor weighed in at 225 lbs. There were 39 Looper boats staying in the marina for the weekend.   We already knew many of the Loopers, having met them previously, but also made some new “Looper Friends” over the weekend. Friday evening we joined our friends Donna and Gary (L’Attitude Adjustment) and a couple we had not met before, Richard and Melaney ( Jewel) for dinner. The food was very good and the company better! Saturday night we ate at the restaurant at the marina again, this time with Richard, Melaney and their daughter, Lindsey who just graduated from USF and another couple Donna and John (Paradise Bound).   After dinner there was a bonfire to cap off the day.
