March 29th We arrived in Sunbury, Georgia yesterday around 4:30 after a cold 8 hour cruise from Brunswick. This, in the middle of nowhere, marina is quaint, rustic and quirky all rolled into one. They have a great little restaurant called the Sunbury Crab Co. We enjoyed a low-country boil dinner complete with crab, shrimp, oysters, sausage and corn with a side of highly recommended, black eyed peas, that were delicious. This morning awoke to clear blue skies and are looking forward to a long walk as soon as it warms up to over 60 degrees I have great pictures that I will send later when, hopefully, my phone cooperates.

March 28th So we are officially out of Florida! On March 25th we left Sister's Creek after a day of severe wind. The trip up to Fernandina was quite rough with wind gusts close to 30 mph. We were hoping the location of the Oyster Bay Yacht Club, which was our destination, would provide some protection to help us get into our assigned slip. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The wind was so strong that even Jack, the expert in docking, was unable to ease us into the slip. Fortunately, there was room at the end of one of the docks that we were able to tie up to. The next morning we took off for Brunswick, Ga. It was a beautiful day and there was much to see. We passed the Kings Bay Navy Submarine Base under the watchful eyes of their security boats and actually saw a submarine being serviced We then cruised past Cumberland Island National Sea Shore and crossed St Andrews Sound. As we headed for Brunswick, we passed Jekyll Island. Brunswick Island Marina was very nice. That ...

March 24th The last time I posted we were in Palm Coast after a cold windy trip. Jack had developed a cold but the trooper he is pushed ahead. Our second day there was warmer so we engaged in the mundane activities of laundry and boat maintenance. Also gave Jack a day to cater to his cold. On the 21st we headed up the ICW to River's Edge Marina in St Augustine. The scenery along this northern portion of Florida is beautiful, A lot of rural, undeveloped areas to enjoy as we cruised along. The marina had a great little restaurant called Hurricane Patty's. Food was very good and the rustic waterfront setting enjoyable. The marina was only a quarter mile from a Winn Dixie so off I went to stock up.(it reminded me why I don't go to Winn Dixies). Yesterday, March 22nd we headed for Jacksonville to a dock at Sister's Creek. That is all there is here, a dock, no electric or water hook up, so I guess you can say this is my first REAL camping on the trip. (of course, we do hav...

March 19th We had a beautiful cruise up the Indian River to New Smyrna and I saw my first alligator, ironically, not in Lake Okeechobee We also saw herds of manatees engaging in mating (google how do manatees procreate) New Smyrna was great. We had dinner one night with Jack's cousins, Brian and Maureen, who are lovely. The weather was beautiful , 80's and sunny. Today we headed up the Intracoastal to Palm Coast cruising against 12 mph to 20 mph winds and the temperature was in the high 50's and we unpacked our winter coats. This is not spring in Florida! As soon as we docked I turned the heat on. We will be here until Thursday morning and then on to St Augustine.

March 16th, We had a beautiful cruise yesterday from the Eau Gallie Yacht Club to Titusville Marina. We weren't there but 15 minutes and started meeting couples who were on the Loop themselves. They all left from different parts of the country at different times. Some have done segments, dock their boat and travel home for work or family and then resume weeks or months later. We were invited for "Dock Tales" and met at least 5 couples who are on the Loop. Today has been a work day on the boat and tomorrow we head out to New Smyrna.
